We began our first full day in Namibia with the sun streaming into our tent. After breakfast, we set off for our next destination, the Sesriem campsite, located just outside of Sossusvlei. This area has gained popularity in recent years among tourists and landscape photographers, thanks to the striking sight of numerous dead Camelthorn trees scattered throughout the white clay pans surrounded by dunes.

As we drove along, we kept our eyes peeled for wildlife, and it didn’t take long before we spotted some baboons, just like the day before. A few kilometers later, we caught sight of our first Oryx antelope in the distance!
What an incredible moment!
Naturally, I had my Sony a6400 with the 70-350mm lens ready to go. Thrilled by the sight, I snapped the first photos of this majestic animal, only to realize it was too far away for a great shot. We watched the Oryx for a few more minutes before continuing our journey toward Sesriem. It seemed I’d have to wait for another opportunity to capture one of these beautiful antelopes in better detail.
Further down the road, we encountered our first ostriches – a male and a female running alongside the road. Luckily, I was quick enough to capture these incredible runners in action. See for yourself!

Upon arriving at the Sesriem campsite, we quickly discovered that Oryx antelopes were far from rare or shy in this area. Several of them were lounging in the shade of the trees right within the campsite!
This gave me the perfect opportunity to finally photograph these majestic animals up close. What an incredible way to end the day! Filled with amazement and excitement from everything we had experienced, we went to bed, eager to see what the coming days would bring.
